JOHANNESBURG - President Jacob Zuma’s supporters say while there won’t gather outside the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday, they would be with him in spirit.

Zuma, who is facing charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering related to the multi-billion rand arms deal, will find out if his corruption case will be dismissed.

Earlier this year he argued for a permanent stay of prosecution, saying the case was politically motivated and that the unreasonable delays in getting to trial have prejudiced him.
Maybe he should stop delaying and prejudicing himself then...

Things are no longer what they used to be, what's this nonsense about being with him in spirit?

They sit at home or work. Do not move. Release their spirits, which then goes to court sitting and supporting Zuma, right?

Its a subtle way of saying Zuma and his cronies don't have much money left that they can easily access to pay for the buses and supporters.
Yeah, Zandile is the big Boss now, uBaba should find a way to deal with that. I bet she is going to pull a much bigger crowd.

Her supporters are more local than uBaba so its cheaper for them to come support her.

There is not going to be any fundraising now that he is not in a position to give back anything in return.

Didn't he plead having money issues? Without donations or some mysterious source of wealth, he won't be able to appeal at the SCA or CC unless a lawyer decides to go pro bono.

Maybe but there has to be enormous amount of cash available to him at possibly nkandla locker. He is basically a beggar. When he was president, he was able to return favors. Now, he is not able to do anything as most of his fellow comrades are facing raids and prosecutions. Guptas are in dubai - only way he could get money from them is Hawala but I doubt guptas will send anything.

If he gets really and truly desperate, he may be able to blackmail Ace Magashule or even David Mabuza.

I doubt if Zuma ever had any cards - at least not any cards he could play without incriminating himself. It is absolutely a disgrace that such a person was able to rise to this level. Granted he has some good pre-94 karma, but being a president? only via shaik & gupta patronage.

I mean, in the ANC, the same sort of people rose to presidency and to at least four provincial chairperson roles (MP, FS, NW, KZN), as well as ANCWL and ANCYL leadership. It's not a disgrace, it's systemic.

We know Zuma will wreck everything he can wreck before he gives up. Let's hope that entails spinning some yarns about his former Premier League allies. He is sometimes willing to partially incriminate himself (e.g. why did he appoint spies to his executive?)

At least it sounds like our judicial system is getting tired of his k*k.
Who knows. Maybe if we're lucky we'll see him being brought to justice before he goes sometime.
I can tell you now already. They should steel themselves for one of his non-arguments that kills brain cells in court.
"Pay attention now.. cough... What is this western font you wrote my summons in? Can you tell me where on my driver's licence it says that I can't sleep with that woman? I must consult with my Sangoma before I can remember your question. For the lots9th time - I see no problem with my actions."
