Jailed Putin critic Alexei Navalny has died - prison service

Glenn Greenwald nails it here. (Basically says what I said).

I repeat again, all this feigned outrage over Navalny and other alleged victims of Putin is fake, hollow and hypocritical.
As we've established these people do not actually care about such things as human rights or press freedom (else why do they never raise so much as a peep for Assange or Lira?). All they care about are opportunities to have yet another go at Russia whilst giving their own team (USA, Israeli and Ukrainian states) a blank check to persecute and kill their enemies.

Russian authorities set more conditions to release Navalny’s body to family, his foundation says

The Russian Investigative Committee has set more conditions to release Alexey Navalny’s body to his mother, according to Ivan Zhdanov, the director of Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation.

Aside from conducting a secret funeral "among the family," the committee said they require the following three conditions:

  1. The body should be transported to Moscow on a special plane, and before arriving in the capital, Navalny’s mother should not announce the funeral in order for the crowd not to meet the body at the airport.
  2. The family must be accompanied by an employee of the investigative committee at all times before the funeral.
  3. Navalny’s mother should decide on the date of the funeral after arriving in Moscow. The body should be kept in the Moscow or Vladimir region before the funeral. According to Zhdanov, the investigative committee “is afraid that the morgue will be stormed.”
The death certificate will be given to Navalny’s family once they agree to meet the above conditions, Zhdanov said in an interview with independent Russian journalist Alexander Plyushchev on Thursday.

Alexei Navalny: Putin critic's mother 'given hours to agree secret burial'

Alexei Navalny's mother has been told to agree to a "secret" burial for the Putin critic within three hours, Mr Navalny's spokeswoman says.
Otherwise, she was told, he would be buried at the Arctic Circle penal colony where he died a week ago.

Mr Navalny's mother has said she has been forced to sign a death certificate saying he died of natural causes.

The Kremlin has denied the allegations, calling Western reaction to the death "hysterical".
Mr Navalny's spokeswoman said the opposition leader's mother, Lyudmila, had refused to negotiate with the authorities as they "are not authorised to decide how and where her son should be buried".

She is demanding compliance with the law, according to which investigators are obliged to hand over the body within two days of establishing the cause of death," Kira Yarmysh said.

These two days are due to expire on Saturday.

If you attempt to organize a protest in Russia you are deemed insane.

According to the outlet Mediazona, Lypkan’s case was launched in response to an interview in which he spoke about his activism and his attempts to get a protest rally approved by the authorities. OVD-Info reported that Lypkan was targeted for posts he made on Telegram.

Impressuve but of intelligence gathering that, managing to find a cause of death without an independent autopsy... Or is that simply what the Kremlin are saying was the cause of death?

Erm, that's Budanov of Ukrainian intelligence. He's something of a NAFO idol here on MyBB.
