Hi Guys

Just something interesting that I have discovered while looking for international comparisons. There has been a few discussions lately regarding the cost and speed of ADSL, but how about this offering from Yahoo!BB in Japan:
“Monthly charge for 50 Mbps (¥4,122 in Eastern Japan and ¥4,130 in Western Japan) includes tax and all monthly fees collected by Yahoo! BB and the ¥158 extra per month (¥173 in Western Japan) charged by NTT for having the ADSL signal transmitted over their wires… ¥4,122/month (tax included) Full Connection Charge (50 Mbps), inc. modem rental, ISP, etc.”

This is R 237-00 per month for a 50 M down, 3 Meg Up connection… That puts the US and UK to shame :D

Regards,

RPM

RPM,

feeling sick now 50Mbps down & 3Mbps up all for R237 per month.

Perhaps the solution is to get the Japanese to buy out Malaysian shares in Telkom, I wonder if government would allow it.
(Liansky & co - I am joking here.)

On a more constructive note, there has to be thread somewhere in the mists of MyADSL history/archives that purely contains posts of price comparisons, yes?

It would be really useful to collect all this info in one place, better yet, a webpage with a form that we could use to fill in the info of each of these finds (with a verifiable source url), all stored in a MySQL db...just think - the implications of a daily updated db with price comparisons to Telkom's ADSL, yes|no|maybe ?

"(¥4,122 in Eastern Japan and ¥4,130 in Western Japan)"

Ha ha ha: Poor barstards in Osaka have to pay R0.46 more than the people in Tokyo for the service.

RPM, you should consider starting MyADSL.co.jp for them to complain.

DSL is for wussies. Check out their cable prices. 100/100 Mb cable for ¥5,800/month.

This seems to me masochistic behaviour, we know we're getting screwed  why taunt us with how bad it really is
