"A Tokyo medical school has apologised after an internal investigation confirmed it altered entrance exam scores for more than a decade to limit the number of female students and ensure more men became doctors.

Tokyo Medical University manipulated all entrance exam results starting in 2006 or even earlier, according to findings released by lawyers involved in the investigation, confirming recent reports in Japanese media."

Japan, China, Korea, all those areas lag behind the west in terms of womens rights. Japan stands out a bit though.

Pity that America didn't succeed in breaking Japan's culture of patriarchal idiocy at the same time they broke their culture of emperor-worship.

Repulsive. If someone qualifies for a slot in medical school give it to them fair and square. Race, gender etc. should not be a factor.

If that means that only gender fluid people with blue polka-dot skin become doctors then so be it.

It's precisely that kind of radical thinking that's led to the moral degeneracy of the medical profession, as evidenced in Grey's Anatomy and Nurse Jackie.

That's nothing, have you seen the degeneracy happening in General Hospital with the Quartermains?

You didn't strike me as the type of person to watch those shows...

Maybe I need to have watched these shows to get the joke?

That was in the 40s. You're talking about Jim Crow America here. Patriarchy and flagrant racism was flourishing in America itself. They weren't breaking anything in Japan.
