MUNSTER fans were shocked this afternoon with the announcement that Jean de Villiers is to leave the province within the next three months.

De Villiers' reason for his decision is that he wants to make himself available to the Springboks in view of the 2011 World Cup.

Munster announced today that Jean de Villiers will return to South Africa at the end of the current season. The decision to return home was determined by his desire to make himself available for selection for the South African 2011 World Cup squad, a situation Munster were aware of when they initially contracted de Villiers.

De Villiers, who is currently abroad with the Munster squad on a warm-weather camp said, "My decision to return to South Africa is solely determined by a desire to put myself in contention for the Sprinboks RWC 2011 squad.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying my time here in Munster and I think it would be fair to say that had the RWC not been a factor, then I would be remaining for at least the next 2 seasons," de Villiers said this afternoon.

11. Habana
12. de Villiers
13. Fourie

Not a bad Stormers backline.

Somehow, i dont think that is the real reason he is coming back to SA, i think this link makes more sense:

It is no surprise that before Christmas many felt that Munster's hefty investment in Jean de Villiers was backfiring -- even the player himself confides now that he struggled to immerse himself into the close-knit team.

Off the pitch, despite an early initiation amongst the exalted royalty of Munster rugby -- Keith Wood, Peter Clohessy and Anthony Foley introduced him to the joys of Arthur in Limerick -- the Springbok was struggling to convert the international currency of 50-plus caps and a World Cup medal on the local exchanges

His debut on the Munster squad's regular cabaret circuit rendered him a cross between Milli Vanilli and a delusional 'X Factor' prospect -- his timing on the microphone was even more out of tune than his efforts on the field.

He was promptly booed off by the harshest crowd he would ever face -- his own team-mates.

his coming to the Sharks

His intercept/bounce of the ball style of rugby suits WP rugby, so they can keep him.
From a Sharks point of view, we need a flyhalf, i would rather take Peter Grant, his rugby talent is being waisted there.
remember WP supporters this my opinion, dont take it as fact and slam me.:D

Im not saying that I want him, I just over heard Ian Mac telling my boss the other day... they play golf together. Nothing concrete yet but discussions are going on.
