Jean De Villiers looks like he doesn't even lift.

Size and rugby go together like peas and carrots. Having said that I've seen many a body builder crack after 5 minutes of a social game of rugby.

It requires size, stamina, strength and speed (the 4 s's). Not easy to find athletes that possess all 4 in just the right quantities.

Apparently JDV broke his jaw against Argentina and has lost more weight. He also lost weight while recovering from his knee injury. He garners huge respect from his teammates and piers. I'm confident the Boks will bounce back today.

Well I'm not sure what you call someone who turned pro and beat 7 guys in professional boxing matches.

His fight record is a farce. Have you seen his opponents? Mostly palookas that'll be lucky to win a bar fight.
As for the Frans Botha fight, the result was an absolute joke. Just like all his other fights.

Indicative of the 'sport' of boxing today. You can only fight what's put in front of you and in that regard he has been fairly successful.
It's more a question of picking your opponents wisely, which his camp does.
But I can pick a middleweight that'll knock Williams out, although Golovkin will probably kill him.
Minimumweight Hekkie Budler will probably just beat him up badly.

JdV should be watching the World Cup from the Supersport studio but here is my counterpoint for the strength vs. size discussion.

Modern rugby players will trap okes from 20-years ago. The professionalisation of the sport coupled with science has resulted in bigger, stronger, fitter and faster athletes in the modern era. The modern centre is the size of a back row forward from the 80s and 90s.
