Epstein was arrested in New York and will appear in court on Monday, law enforcement officials told US media.
It comes amid renewed controversy over a plea deal he once reached to end a federal investigation against him.
His lawyer has not yet commented on the latest charges.
Law enforcement officers have not been authorised to discuss the case, but several have spoken to US media outlets on condition of anonymity.
One told The Associated Press news agency that the latest charges stemmed from allegations that Epstein paid underage girls for massages and molested them at his New York and Florida homes.

Following a 2018 financial settlement between Florida attorney Bradley Edwards - who represented one of Epstein's accusers, only to be later sued by Epstein, Edwards claimed that Donald Trump was the 'only person' who provided assistance when Edwards served subpoenas and notices to high-profile individuals connected to Epstein.

Edwards: The only thing that I can say about President Trump is that he is the only person who, in 2009 when I served a lot of subpoenas on a lot of people, or at least gave notice to some pretty connected people, that I want to talk to them, is the only person who picked up the phone and said, let’s just talk. I’ll give you as much time as you want. I’ll tell you what you need to know, and was very helpful, in the information that he gave, and gave no indication whatsoever that he was involved in anything untoward whatsoever, but had good information. That checked out and that helped us and we didn’t have to take a deposition of him in 2009.​

And before you all at me, I am not suggesting Trump ever used this cretins services, it just is indicative of how far and deep Espteins influences went.

Also interesting to note, one of Trump's cabinet members (Acosta) has been very pro-active in trying to keep Mr Epstein out of court.

I think Epstein was an equal opportunity provider, and I believe it will be phenomenally epic when the big names go down.

Oh and before Xarog goes all Q on this. These charges have been in for a decade prior to this.

I agree. Everyone should be looked at. Do you think I would believe anything else? The thread was getting very partisan, don't you think? I had no opinions on Weinstein, except one to wonder how it went on for so long. But, Hollywood is a cesspool of snakes anyway. So it was not surprising.

I am however pretty convinced the Clintons are corrupt as they come. Payments made to the Clinton Foundation should be looked at in depth.

I know it’ll be tough to take your eyes off the Clinton Foundation for a moment, but you really need to have a look at Bear Stearns and Alan Greenberg.

This is not Democrat vs Republican.

I will say it again. This will come down as very apolitical in the sense that it affects people of different parties.

You said it, it is all about wealth and power.
