The full title of the book is "The Devils Delusion: Atheism and Its Scientific Pretensions".
It absolutely shreds Dawkins.
Most critical thinkers rate the book quite highly.

Should be called The Devil's a Delusion.

Personally, even though I have not read any of his stuff, I imagine Dawkins to be brilliant at what he does. Mainly because he cleary infuriates you no end, to the point of you blindly hating him.

Ergo, he must know his s**t.
The thing is that he is far from brilliant.
I don't hate Dawkins - he talks a lot of crap, but I don't hate him.

Noah had three sons:
Ham father of the black tribes
Japheth father of the white tribes
Shem father of the oriental tribes
You don't find it strange, or impossible for one couple to give birth to kids of three different races?
Why would it be strange to have grandkids of three different races? Happens here in SA all the time.
From the sublime to ridiculous - add me to your hate list, I don't have time for your ridiculous BS.

Well they are part of the Christian Bible. I recall them regularly being used to preach from in Church and school. It is also regularly used to justify rules and attitudes by members of the Christian religion. So it's quite valid to make arguments against the religion using text from the Old Testament. I am of the opinion they don't belong in the Christian Bible and that the deities described in the Old and New Testaments are different. But one of the reasons they're included is to create the illusion of fulfilled prophecy.
Does not change the fact that it's Christians being attacked with Jewish books..... it makes no sense to specifically attack Christians and not Jews unless the attacks are disingenuous.

There is of course plenty to criticise about the New Testament and people do. There is also reasonable evidence that the fundamentals of the religion sprang from the surrounding culture of the time.
And yet the most virulent attacks centre on the Old Testament not the New.

I'd say that's more an imagined goal of progressive people. As a rule there isn't an attempt to wipe out Christianity, but rather to keep in check the virulent Christians who would, and in the past did, force their religion on everyone. In general no-one has a problem with moderate Christians, or Muslims or members of any religion, who quietly practice their religion. It becomes a problem when they want their religious symbols in schools or they want to force all their employees to pray, etc.
And yet it is the practical goal, whether it's adherents realize it or not. They will never rest until Christianity is dead. The "moderate Christians" you speak of quarantined in their homes until hopefully their "hateful" religion dies.... they are living the opposite of their stated faith.

If it is state institutions then yes fine, banish all religion (equally with no special exemptions) if you need to. But if an institution is in any way private it's a different story.

They seem to regularly be accused of being anti-Semitic for criticising Israel. Anyway not criticising the beliefs of Judaism probably has a lot to do with it not being plastered everywhere in daily life.
Criticizing Israel is not always antisemitic (a nonsense term in general) but sometimes it is anti-Jew.

I mean the religion itself. That's it is incorrect and drawing people off onto a path this god does not want.
No you don't get it probably. There never has been a official organized religion that can be called Christianity. There were Apostles at first guiding a decentralized group of congregations but that's it. There has been denominations like the Catholics that attempted to usurp the role of Jesus and recreate Him in their own image yes.

Real Christianity answers to no earthly organization.

Looked at some cursory quotations from the book.

Saw some regarding how the Nazis did what they did at Auschwitz, because they believed God was not watching.

I present to you Rudolf Hoss. The SS commander who established and ran Auschwitz. He was brought up in a staunch Catholic household.

In his teenage years, he rejected Catholicism. Did the indoctrination of religion push him?

Same with Adolf Eichmann. Chief architect of the Holocaust. Born to to very religious Calvinistic Protestants.

Did his early religious indoctrination push him?

Himmler? Same story. Born to very staunch Catholics.

Hitler? Also born to staunch Catholics.

Now I am not saying Christianity makes you a Nazi, but the authors view that the Nazis did what they did, because they are Atheist, needs proper study, because the chief architects of the Nazi regime were all born and raised in very strict religious homes.
