Your list is wrong/incomplete.

Both are theist, not to mention they are both a Abrahamic religion.

The argument there is who's story is more correct. Not that the entire thing is BS.

Ok swap out Muslims with Hindus. The "both are theists" don't matter. Theists of different religions have more in common with atheists than with each other. Atheists just believe in one less religion than theists.

So is it a religion?
The belief that something does not exist is not necessarily a religious belief, but is nonetheless a belief.

The belief that Santa exists does not make that belief a religious belief.
The belief that Santa does not exist does not make that belief a religious belief.

The belief that GOD exists does not make that person religious, but is nonetheless a religious belief.
The belief that GOD does not exist does not make that person religious, but is nonetheless a religious belief.

So you are now saying there is a difference between (believing a) belief and a religion?

Agreed. He stuffed up so badly there I think it will take him a while to realise it, and then years to recover :)

Is not believing in Santa a religion?
Are you the Drool that goes around telling kids Santa does not exist?

Anyway, have followed the thread, I now believe that anti-religion is a cult on its own and has disciples that subscribes to the Order of Fanatical Disbelief.

Am I trolling?

To those Atheists that consider themselves capable of critical thought.
Is "I do not believe GOD exists" any different from "I believe GOD does not exist"?

Consider the "argument from incredulity" logical fallacy - where the fallacy be that "not believing something to be true" is somehow different from "believing something to be false".
"NOT x = TRUE" is in fact exactly the same as "x = FALSE".
"NOT believe GOD exists = TRUE" is in fact exactly the same as "believe GOD exists = FALSE".

Therefore.
The "non-belief that GOD exists" is in fact exactly the same as "the belief that GOD does not exist", and be as much a belief as "the belief that GOD exists".
Atheism is a belief - Atheists are believers.

Oh look - another Techne insult based on his ire at high intelligence being a can of Doom towards believing in a religion...
I suppose hoping an atheist is humble is an insult to atheists. I mean come on the "Me atheist me must be smart, you religious you must be dumb" mantra appears to be all that keeps atheists going these days (nothing in the form of any coherent arguments), people can't honestly expect humility from these towers of intellect :X3: .

The belief that GOD does not exist does not make that person religious, but is nonetheless a ( belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods/a particular system of faith and worship) belief.

Does this sound right to you?

Unless you take the 3rd official definition of Religion.
"a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion."
Some people are devoted to picking their nose. Is this a religion?

You're right in a way, that the belief in something doesn't make it a religious belief.

The belief in the existence and the worship of a god makes it a religious belief.

Let's say that people believe that two gods exist, one called Dom, the other called Kop. If Kop doesn't have any worshippers, then the Kop religion doesn'’t exist. So the belief in the existence of Kop isn’t a religious belief. If the god Dom has worshippers then Dom becomes a religion, thus making the belief in and worship of Dom a religious belief.

You clearly do not understand the "argument from incredulity" logical fallacy.
You are either incapable of understanding it, or you refuse to understand it.
I suspect you simply don't want to understand it.
Yup, and not skiing is a sport

General response to the theists, many, many holds barred...

The Oxford Dictionary defines religion as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

Your mental gymnastics are ridiculous, hilarious and ultimately disappoint me in that someone out there is taking you for a ride and likely taking your hard earned money for what is essentially snake oil.

I understand that it is mostly indoctrination and as my wife pointed out to me earlier in the day (strangely enough on a different topic) likely comes from the fact that you yourselves are slowly losing faith in fantasy and questioning your belief systems simply due to the slow evolution of humanity caused by the current deluge of objective thinking and factual based reasoning.

There is more information freely available today than ever before in the history of mankind, it can be overwhelming at times just how much data there is to absorb and I don't mind that religion still roams the world, most of my elders are religious and so are many of my friends, the same can easily be said about the change in clothing and makeup over the centuries, going from wearing what is essentially plastic explosives and lead paint while using arsenic coated wallpapers and monoxide saturated bathing environments to what we have today in under a century tells me that the cancer that is religion will also soon pass.

Theism is segregation and soon enough this too shall end.

Anyway, there are some atheist thoughts put in a prophet like manner so that you can more easily digest them, just don't try find a church where you can drink the coolaid because the IRS won't give atheists any tax breaks...
