Speed traps and fines back online in Joburg and Pretoria

The City of Joburg and the City of Tshwane have warned Gauteng motorists that their speed cameras are up and running after not operating them for over a year and a half.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) confirmed that its speeding cameras were operational in response to a question on Twitter.

now replace them with average speed camera's, that's proper traffic calming devices

normal cameras are just revenue creation devices. They catch normal people not paying full attention. People who speed know where the camera's are, so it just creates dangerous speed fluctuations.

It shouldn't be a revenue that's a conflict of interest

Hope that all the cameras and other devices have all been calibrated and certified

Lol whatever, haven't paid a NAG fine since the 90's and not planning to start any time soon..

“On New Year’s Day, the #JMPD High-Speed Unit arrested a total of 7 motorists for speeding,” it said.
How fast does JMPD's "High-Speed Unit" go, or do they only sit on their fat arses behind a camera?

So... no more 240km/h in a 60km/h zone? Are they bluffing? Anyone got a fine?
