This sounds like a pipe dream. We dont feel like load shedding, so we wont shed our buddies. But the rest of the country can load shed, because we dont.

I doubt this plan will last long. However the other side is. They want to load shed you 2 hours on, 2 hours off, 2 hours on then 2 hours off, with no break inbetween for the electronics and appliances to normalise. Lets hope laundry takes no longer than 2 hours or youre screwed.

True that, one cannot squeeze blood from a stone.

Or the collapse has been so drastic, that they can ease off now without consequences.

The stupid part is that we have to wait up to thirty minutes for the power to come back after load-shedding so 2x2 hours is worse than 1x4 hours. 2x2 can end up equalling 5.

2 hour gap, WTF are they smoking they need to share and urgently.
Apparently 2 hours is plenty of space for all the fun an activities that would have been missed during those 4 hours!

This new plan is honestly ****ing stupid for a utility that is already battling a slowly collapsing grid. City Power are forever tweeting and releasing media statements about the completely overwhelming number of issues in each SDC (service delivery center) every day. They must magically think that the cables and mini substations that are already burning themselves out faster than City Power can replace them, will fix themselves with shorter but far more frequent bouts of loadshedding.
Must be a bad dream, because this is more stupid than anything that the ANC could come up with, and we know that's just not possible. Guess things will be fine when I wake up in a few hours...

Not "buddies"... The correct terminology is "key customers".

in the coming months.....

So lets not fix the damn system 'in the coming months' but we'll prepare for even more loadshedding 'in the coming months'

Okay so who was arguing with me when I said most of JHB is still manually operated??
The substations in all other areas are still manually operated, and measures are underway

As long as Leon, Thabang and Bongani get to the substation on time then we should be fine..

It makes 0 difference. I'm on one of the "automated" substations and I'm on the verge of being genocidal if I hear "oops system is down, sending techs out to restore sometime in the next 6 hours" one more ****ing time

There's an easy fix for that. Just don't phone them.

This is such a terrible idea, 2 hours slots with 2 hour breaks in-between(+30 mins for restoration)
What are we supposed to do with <2 hours of power before the next slot...

The maximum duration the block can be switched off per day is 12 hours — or six times — in higher stages like stage 8.
and 6 times +30mins for restoration...
How the hell are the substations supposed to survive this?
