R178million is much less than we initially thought, but still R250million is a fair amount of money to spend on fixing the damage. not sure if the city has the R400million needed to fix this, but they'll just have to find that somewhere in the budget. i suppose we should be glad that this didn't happen under one of the many highways or large streets, otherwise we'd be looking at a bill of more than the R800million needed to fix bree street. hopefully the cost doesn't go up more than the R1.2billion in their initial estimates.

lol - that was funny

He revealed that following the explosion, the City of Johannesburg spent close to R4 million on “professional experts, services, the cordoning off of the site, technology that we’ve used and the provision of temporary relief”
Consultant: "Eish.. The road, she is broken".
That will be R2million please.

But where did the gas come from and how and why, methane is a ventable gas so why did it explode

Cape Town CBD explosion caused by Taxi Mafia.

The difference is the Cape Town explosion is all above ground.

R178 million to fix a road... just level the bloody road and fill the holes with the excess waste around this place. R178million?
cANCer cadres need their kickbacks you know

Yeah very much high traffic...

So lets assume we're talking 1.5kms of road that needs to be rebuilt, you're at R30m.

All the underlying infrastructure for 1.5km (new tunnel, rerouting and rebuilding services), say another R30m.

An additional portion for contingencies of say R15m.

Not that we wonder, but what is the other R100m for?

Even if we go over the top and tack on R20m for removal of the existing rubble and debris, there is still R80m that is possibly not really that well accounted for
Oh great. Mybb experts at it again
