Johannesburg - A school principal was shot in Hillbrow on Monday morning, said police.

It was not yet known what his condition was, said Captain Kriban Naidoo.

The circumstances were also still unclear of how the shooting took place at the school operated from a block of flats on the corner of Pretoria and Edith Cavell streets.
