Joburg seeking 500MW of private power to fight load-shedding

Johannesburg’s municipality intends buying 500 megawatts of electricity from independent producers to help avert ongoing power outages in South Africa’s biggest city.

A request for proposals is awaiting approval from the National Treasury and should be issued within weeks, Mpho Phalatse, Johannesburg’s mayor, said in an interview at Bloomberg’s Johannesburg offices on Monday.

isnt Kelvin Power station privately owned, cant they just use that?

or is it too old and run down, to be of much use?
JHB currently gets around 180MW from them already, under a PPA.

Why then do they have same stage blackouts as other cities?

CT doesn't get as much load shedding think you really need to come out that little bubble you live in.
If you call half a stage when LS is at stages 1-2 and 0 difference stage 3 and above is implemented "not as much", then yes you are right. You need to see the bubble you live in, created by leftist indoctrination. And you call this CT has told Eskom to FO, I rest my face.
