Johannesburg taxi commuters will be stranded on Thursday as the South African Taxi Council (Santaco) will be embarking on a strike.

Santaco Gauteng chairperson Ralph Jones said the taxi industry will march to the South African Taxi Finance offices in Midrand.

“This is to hand over a memorandum of grievances to the directors of the company. Some members of the taxi industry have been hard hit by the high interest rate of 28% and blacklisting due to payment of R15‚000 per month over 72 months.

There's taxi financing? :wtf: One single institution that is responsible for so many taxis on the road?

Awesome, finally a day without these pests on the road.

Received information that they will start blocking the N1 at Midrand from 3am. I suspect where the SATF is, which is just before New Rd. offramp on the N1S

Yeah figured they'll probably block a highway somewhere. Yes the taxi finance thing is just before olifantsfontein offramp north and just after south. They're almost on the other side of the highway from Vodacom

Lol at their puny roadblock attempt. Set them ablaze. Now THAT would be an impenetrable barrier :whistling:

Also... If Scamral has known these halfwits are there since 03H00 - why hasn't the JMPD / SAPS or whomever moved in already to unblock the freeway? Theiyr're schit scared of these scumbags I tell 'ya.

At moment issues seems to be on N1 South at Midrand at SamRand/Shell Ultra City and then on R511 somethign is happning, according to Google Maps
