Many Americans do not know what is good for them. The problem is:- that is precisely why someone like Trump can get votes.

He just needs to say what they want to hear. However, Trump is his own worse enemy. After 4 years enough Americans who voted for him previously or simply didn’t vote on 2016, have realised what Trump is. The “base” that is now left over that still supports him is either the racist minority or the corrupt bunch that have been making a fortune under his protection who seeing their leader being swept away, along with their fortunes. And those too close to him are probably wondering when, not if, he is going to throw them under the bus to save himself when the States start prosecuting him. Hence the panic lawsuits and pardons(which can only apply to federal crimes)

I feel so bad for his base. A few days ago they were blaming Pelosi for only allocating $600, then they thought Trump was gonna make some deal to get them $2000 (probably because that's exactly what he said), then last night he folded like wet origami and signed the budget anyway and somehow they need to reconcile this loser add their great maga dealmaker. They picked the worst horse and they've been doubling down on him so much that they can't back out.

I tend to agree Trump was meant to hurt everyone else especially those they don't like and own the libs, but it came back and bit them he hurt them most.

But Trump got more votes this turn than he did back in 2016, no? It seems to me that it is dem voters who woke up and realized they need to actually vote Trump out unlike back then when they stayed home and assumed Hillary would just walk it.

Edit: yes, they even endorsed him. Read the article too and it is sobering but I expect Trump will dig in

Edit2: okay, article isn't all that great. The second half is dedicated to Trumpism and they're only calling him out cause they see that he risks losing the GOP the senate if he carries on
