Johannesburg faces renewed threat of power cuts as Eskom debt dispute resurfaces

The long-standing dispute between Eskom and the City of Johannesburg over unpaid electricity bills has reignited, with Eskom threatening to resume power cuts due to non-payment of arrears.

This development comes after months of stalled negotiations and a delayed independent report intended to resolve the metering and billing disagreements.

City's useless municipality refuses to pay, paying residents get punished...

Our power is off at least once a week already. We haven't had one week of uninterrupted power supply here in our area this whole year.

City Power is beyond pathetic.

Ah yes, the Finding Out phase and, when they cut the electricity, the no phase.

Eskom cannot cut them off
I understand the court’s position, it’s the law abiding and paying residents that will ultimately suffer, which is unfair.

But we are now in a position where residents are paying their bills, the low life scum at the municipality are stealing everything, living it up and not paying Eskom, and Eskom just has to keep supplying, regardless of how in arrears or how much that municipality consumes. It’s completely unsustainable.

I wonder how they can dispute the meter readings, it gives a number, as they saying the number is wrong/meter is faulty?
I have a smart meter for electricty, it should be easy enough for them to get the figures. The last two months the figures have been wrong, inflating what I owe them. I've had disputes with COJ for both water and electricity far too many times and even though I pay what I owe, they still have cut us off for both.

I absolutely detest them.

The Bunts stealing the money that has to go to Escum.
Bunch of low life useless thieves.
Happens all over SA.
STEAL AND STEAL SOME MORE.
They just can't resist stealing.
Do something Squirrel.
