Inside the R90-million Wits Digital Dome

The University of Witwatersrand (Wits) and Anglo American have revamped the Johannesburg Planetarium as the Digital Dome with an investment of R90 million.

The refurbished facility includes new digital projection, sound systems, and auditorium seating, with the possible future creation of a Science and Technology Exploratorium.

Damn some good news for a change.
I've never been there, wanted to take my nephew there so we could visit the Museum, apparently they have some cool stuff to see.

Now we definitely need to go.

They just need to update their website. This thing is awful.

Experienced the old ones with a certain professor David Block.
Pretty much the best narration I've ever listened to.

But the only thing I remember is him refering to the Milky way as "the via lactea".

International planetariums tend to have some shows not geared to kids later on in the evenings. Hopefully they do the same as I would love to see content like that in SA. Last time I went to the planetarium prior to the revamp they really only did shows geared to a very young audience which was nice for the kids but I would support some geared for older teens and adults.
