This is news to me, especially this part:

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has announced that it is moving to an all Linux based trading platform when it relocates to Johannesburg. The JSE currently operates out of London and runs on the TradElect platform which is based on Microsoft .Net and SQL Server 2000. It plans to move to MilleniumIT's Millennium Exchange platform by the first half of 2012.

Always amazed how those MS systems crawled despite all the RAM, CPU upgrades.

There was a huge buzz about this when London Stock Exchange dropped Windows a couple of years ago. Everyone said Linux would not be able to do it, and here we are, a couple of years down the road and it is running like a champ!
o_0 Years?

Not sure where you get your info from, but the LSE main board only went live today:

nice, the penguin trades faster will make us richer
Haha. The linux crowd should make "the penguin trades faster" their slogan. Has a nice ring to it.
