Johannesburg Stock Exchange to move to Linux

This is news to me, especially this part:

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has announced that it is moving to an all Linux based trading platform when it relocates to Johannesburg. The JSE currently operates out of London and runs on the TradElect platform which is based on Microsoft .Net and SQL Server 2000. It plans to move to MilleniumIT's Millennium Exchange platform by the first half of 2012.

There was a huge buzz about this when London Stock Exchange dropped Windows a couple of years ago. Everyone said Linux would not be able to do it, and here we are, a couple of years down the road and it is running like a champ!

Yes, but they use the FTSE trading platform, they established some joint venture years ago.

Can install a Linux distro on a system with 6Gb RAM installed, Linux picks it up.

Windows? You'll need better than the Standard Edition of Server2003...
