Maybe its depending from different shops, but our local one always seem they looking how they can screw you. From old fruit and veg or just plain bad quality stuff at moerse prices.

The only reason I visit the F&V in nelspruit is because it is close to Eskort. The bakery stuff is really good. Not buying meat there, ever again.
 
I did some groceries at a Food Lovers once. I was hungry so got a pizza slice as well. The pizza dough was crumbly like a stale scone so that was a disappointment. However the marinated chicken flatties were on special and I bought 3. Grilled one in the oven that evening and it tasted like old rancid cooking oil. Took all 3 back the next day and have never shopped there again.

I often buy sourdough bread, peri peri cashews and other nuts, and sushi with salmon.

For fruit and veg I generally go with spar and Woolies.

Careful friend brought some rancid nuts and got terribly sick. i agree Food Lovers quality is questionable. Just have a look when the staff prepare food packages, the bakery and meat packs. No hygiene involved.

I think the problem is you went to some fong Kong McDonalds, cause they don't have whatever that is.

He didn't have McDonalds he had MacDonalds the fong Kong duplicate by the sounds of it.
Sure the McD food isn't great, but it's still not cardboard like people seem to think it is.
 
Was a proper McD. At least I didn't pay for the rubbish.

Only nice thing for me at Food Lovers is the Fruit Salad and ice cream. And the reason its nice sums up how bad quality stuff they sell. Except for the banana all the other fruit in the fruit salad is sour. But that taste great with the ice cream.
 
During the easter weekend i went to a local Food Lovers and it was terrible. Shelves full of rotten food, half of them empty, dirt everywhere where there wasn't food re-packed.

I really have no intention to shop there.
 
There used to be a bakery/coffee shop next door to the F&V. The tombstone faced manager of F&V got into a beef with the owner at her shop. She gave him a poesklap. He ran out squealing and to the police station to lay a charge. Nothing came of it. But the coffeeshop owner soon had a new breakfast item on her menu - "Knock Out Breakfast"! 😃
