I am a PC gamer.
and like all other pc gamers I am on a short list of worth while games.
I like car games ( big nfs fan ) but at the mo have not got any worth while games ( been at work all the time ) I have completed most wanted and only play it against my friends in a lan ( I have not had anytime to shop around for new titles. i found my copy of juiced in the bin ( where it belongs ) and started playing it.
is that the only crap that i can play to get my fix of speed?
do i have to play on a console to get that thrill now a days?
and what were they thinking releasing this game?

What about toca racedriver? The whole series is awesome and it's even more fun with a wheel connected to your pc, I've got a Logitech force feedback wheel and I love playing games like Colin Mcrae rally etc.

Just a thought ;)

trackmania!
I've previously voiced my :D opinion towards trackmania nations, and when it comes to FREE arcade racers, nothing touches it

Get Flatout, and then download the super Nitro Trainer. It's hilarious when you or your opponents hit something and the driver flies out the car :)

Stay away from Toca, very bad compared to the good stuff out there. It does however have some fun factor to it. I would recommend GTR and GTR2 great online races and support. Not sure if 2 has been released yet. This is the benchmark for racing sims. I would also try and get hold of F1 2002. Yes it is old, but still one of the best sims I have ever raced and the graphics are good.

A reasonable fun sim is Colin Mcrea 2005. Short but fun.

And yes, Juiced needs to stay in the bin!!!

GTR2 demo is out, plus a few "workarounds" that will allow you to :
1. race all 6 demo cars
2. use all the GTLegends tracks

Gangstarr mentioned TOCA3 being "too demanding". If that's hardware or skill related, then stay away from any of the decent sims (GTR, GTLegends, Richard Burns Rally, etc) If it's time (you'll be spending with it) related, then I can't help :D

Amen to that !! One of the few recent (say 5 years) racing titles I don't own (anymore)

The problem with TOCA is that the steering inputs are too quick and over sensitive. I have try to mod some settings, but no luck. The changes you can make to geometry and setup also does not reflect realistic cars behavior compared to what was done. It can be very frustrating while trying to be half competitive.

In short, "fun" vs "realistic" racing does not always go well together, and this is where TOCA is missing the point.

My 2 cents.

Ouch, that puts "demanding" into perspective :D...then (out of the later games) I'll suggest give TrackMania Nations a go
