Got a reply from a techie, he said some guy called Saun will get in contact with me to sort out the problem.....so let's see what happens.

I didn't think about that Clipse. I will give it a try until the problem is sorted.
[EDIT] freevpn did not prove to be helpfull in this regard.

Is your whole net crawling or only specific traffic?

If its a direct slowdown at your tower, then freevpn would most probably not work at all.

it isn't a slowdown at the tower. It seems to be a block of all priority traffic, if your "free"vpn is on a priority port then it would be blocked to I'd imagine.

well if its a priority port issue, you can allways change the port to an non-priority port haha

all iburst users with our client pm me, so that I can give you a few ports to try out :)

well persistant sales pitches aside, I'd prefer WBS to rectify the issue than me having to use a 3rd party VPN that probably has drawbacks unless I pay.

Since I do already pay someone for my internet access I'd rather take it up with them than use a murky workaround.

Clearly you lack the obvious fact that, FREEVPN is FREE.

If you dont want the help, then please by all means dont go for it, I wasnt even refering to help you, I mentioned the iburst users using it allready, they should msg me.

Gareth the fact that there is a problem is fine, but if there is a possible workaround that will help you/others in short term, just what exactly is bad about this? Please think before posting your comments, clearly you didnt think before posting.

I really think you should take your attitude and shuff it in iburst face, should resolve issues quickly ;-)

*bigsigh*

Quick update....

My throttled 64k works again like it use to. Everything seems fine once more. The problem I see is the helpdesk. The first time I phone the guy offered me no help what so ever and told me there's nothing wrong by them and I should buy another gig. I said hell no.....he said he would phone me back(never happened).

Second time I phoned helpdesk AJ picked up and tried to help me best he can. After realizing that The problem is not my fault he escalated the problem to Louis a techie/administartor there. I also made sure to get a reference number. Louis emailed me and told me he refered the issue to a guy named Shaun as he has helped ppl with this problem before. He also told me shaun would contact me. He has not contacted me as of yet but the issue seems to be resolved.

My point is this, 95% of helpdesk are monkey's except AJ, he seems to try help. The mentality of helpdesk seems to be that if there's no big network failure on their side, the fault has to be the customers and they dont really try help you beyond that.

hmm, from personal experience so far, i haven't had the problems mentioned. Actually hada very nice month last month: Got 12Gig which isnt too bad. Been capped every month before that, and sometimes when the BW manager fails, i even get full speed while capped which is pften a pleasant suprise.

WBS Strikes Again

Well i seem to officially have abuser staus now after last months 11gigs. Hit cap this morning and got cut off, completely. I have to pay my respects to Shaun Green, who quickly arranged an extra gig. I was quite impressed. Seems to be working for the mean time. Wonder when they will fix the "problem"...

Are you sure this is really a problem? ;-)

By cutting us off wbs now have a way of controlling just how much over the cap we can go by giving a "free" 1gb if we complain.

From their point of view thats far cheaper than letting the "abuser" hit 11gb or more.:p

hmm, well according to Shaun Green, if it happens again I must just give him a call, and ask him to activate another gig. And i am gonna try and keep a gig for at least 3-4 days, so as not to make it look like i am abusing their policy...

Again this month as soon as I reach my 1gb cap limit I get cut off! Only site that works is www.iburst.co.za. I can ping all sites but access nothing. No FTP/HTTP/Messenger. This is really getting annoying. If I have to go through this problem every month I rather shoot myself! I hope it gets sorted soon :(

WBS has a serious internal problem regarding the "death by cap". The admin team says it's not their problem and that it's a signal problem which makes NO SENSE( I even hear that Shaun Green has had a fight with them as well regarding this matter). So to cure the problem an engineer is sent out to my house to test my signal. Obviously nothing wrong with it so they gave me 1gb for free. So now I'm online again but dread the death by cap once again. The problem needs to be investigated and fixed. I did have a chat with the engineer and hopefully once the admin team is confronted with the signal data he collected they must surely suspect that the error is on their side.

Facts:
1.www.iburst.co.za is accessable (if it was a signal issue surely ibusrt.co.za would not be accessable!)
2.I can ping any site but access nothing.
3.My signal is good!!! I can play bf2 online and wow, and I get full speed good latency and low FER.
4.My 64k throttled speed has worked fine all the other 7 months except for the last 2. October I had 2 or 3 days of "death by cap" Which was fixed. Once again nothing changed my side. It just all of a sudden started working like normal again. More proof that it CAN'T BE SIGNAL RELATED!!!!

Here's hoping they fix it instead of treating the symptoms.

p0tenc, I would also recommend trying to IRC and eMule. Those worked for me last time, even when nothing else did... It is rediculous, the block http, but leave emule open :p. Another strange thing that I noticed, is that you can get access to secure (gMail) POP and SMTP servers, but normal (unsecure) ones are blocked.

This just further proves that it is a problem on their side, not on ours. I have got 600MB to go unfortunatly. Am waiting for my dad to finish the damn 3GB already, so that I can get out onto DC++ hub and start sharing :p
