If you have reached your iBurst cap in July 2005, select more than one option...

Yeah, I agree with LoneGunman here. We should find all the ghana and other such forums, and tell people to STAY AWAY from WBS. Ghanians are pretty smart, if we give them enough warnings they should stay away.

Since launch it appeared as if the iBurst users are only contributing to some proof of concept / pre-launch effort for something else, maybe bigger. A while back the government thing came up with Sentech apparently having had problems. This week the VoIP thing came up. By the looks of things I think we, the users, are right at the bottom of the WBS food chain and they actually want to move on to caviar... sorry, the gravy train.

Hi Slimothy

Can you please check your mail asap.

BTW: I have tried to get hold of a few people at WBS...nobody is available, and most people are not even there. Not good...

Thanks and regards,

RPM

... leaving a few mom-n-pop email checkers here and there, who'll never complain..

I think that is their target market and always was.
Not just the mom-n-pop, but also the SOHO users.

I remember sitting in a meeting sometime back with a marketing chick and two other graphic designers - I was called in to do some multimedia stuff.

They got talking about how dial-up is so expensive and have you heard of this new iBurst thing ?
I kept quiet and just listened. The marketing chick had been short changed by Telkom when she moved offices - couldn't get ADSL.
She was raving about iBurst and how she can get her email anytime she wants etc. - note, this is ALL she cared about. Getting her email quickly.
The graphic designers, two old ducks working on Mac, were at the same level of understanding as the marketing chick - the internet is about email.

Those are the clients iBurst want - the people who are completely unaware of what broadband really means and what services it can bring to them and in fact, how much money they can save.

So the whole thing was indeed a "bait 'n switch" right from the very beggining, as some of the more savvy members of this forum warned.

Now that you "youngsters" have seen the wise advise behind this warning, perhaps you'll be more careful next time and not let your arrogance get in the way of common sense.

This post, is in effect, a rounda-bout way of me saying "I told you so" - dig through my own posts on the fact that iBurst don't want you "broadband abusers" on their network anymore - you helped "stress test" it for them...

Sick, isn't it ?

Hey guys one more thing, I was already affected by this if you check the 'Forced to buy bandwidth?' post, so it is being enforced, go easy on your data allocation

to cancel your iBurst you need to do the following:
email musa.mlangeni@wbs.co.za explain to her why,
then phone the accounts department on 011 877 47 46,
if you are on the 24 month contract, like me you MAY cancel ok, so dont feel bulied into staying

contact web media if you can, they publish faster, i doubt any main stream media broadcasters liek a Carte Blanche would take this up, this isn't Joe Average stuff and wouldn't appeal to someone who just came home fishing on a Sunday, I wouldn't bother with that, but Newspapers and websites are fair game.

Just don't forget all our voices get heard if we make them heard, it all adds up, jjtoymachine's sig is a perfect example, anyone browsing any post he's done will see the message load and clear, we might not be ablew to reverse the policy (we havent before) but we sure as hell can save other consumers from the R2800 paperweight and inconvenience you get with iBurst... this has to be against the contract, can anyone scan a copy of the contract in? obviously blur your initials and specifics.
