just hit my cap about an hour ago and got similar results as slimothy, although I could browse standard http fine, I couldnt get any secure sites at all nor could I login to msn or icq. managed to get into the secure iburst helpdesk site using some slightly underhanded methods and bought some more bandwidth. needless to say all my problems were solved as soon as I hit that buy more bandwidth button.

Ok, do I take it that those of you that reached your caps were cutoff until you purchased more bandwidth?

If that is true then wbs are still telling lies and I am going to have to make other arrangements and order adsl.

slimothy, lost, Simple Twist Of Fate and apparently jjtoymachine - looks like it.
Wish I could change, they really screwed me the last couple of days when I had to get things done. Definately not a viable business proposition to rely on iBurst.

Thanks for your reply jmn, well it looks like this is the end of iburst for me, but still have to wait for telkom to install before I can move on.
I do not intend to give wbs one cent more than I already do as I have stated before I got iBurst because of the mobility and the 64k after cap.

Also it seems they lie alot, thats when you can get hold of them, well this time they better answer my email as hiding will only confirm that they are a total waste of time.

Trust a sa company to screwup a good system.

Agreed.
I send all mails to helpdesk, Sassan Parvin, Luis and accounts. Request a read receipt and PGP sign it. Think I must add all addresses for WBS that's been posted in these threads and setup a mailing list.
Thus far I've received read receipts from Sassan, not from the others, and actually one reply (requesting my phone number, I don't include it in the mail since i WANT a reply on record), but they probably disable the answer anyway if they even bother to open / read the mails.

LOL, I should have kept my slow lease line which I had since 1996 without any problems or caps, only problem was that it could only reach normal dialup speed.
Still even though it was slow I could still top 8g per month without any problems.

Never had any problems with that ISP, but sure making up for it with wbs.

If they don't give me the right answer to my email, or if they do not reply, tuff for them as come Monday I am going to visit my bank and have all payments to wbs stopped as from the beginning of next month.

jj so what you saying is that it only affects your downloading or am I reading it wrong?

If so is it at 64k like when you were normally capped or slower?

Not been able to get to email is bad as now you can't even email complaints to them.
Looks like I better take it easy with the rest of my bandwidth this month, as I can't afford to not be able to get to my email.

Just got back from the Grahamstown Arts Festival.

I've got 2.94Gb left.

Having read this thread, I don't think I'm going to be pushing the envelope this month.

Geez, what a thoroughly depressing read...

When will the WBS management take the honourable route and commit hare kare en-mass?

When are they going to graduate from PR kindergarten?

When will they sell their Iburst business to a company that knows how do deal with the public? They better do it soon, or they'll have little left to sell...

And what happens if you don't use the 3GB??
I bet it doesn't get carried over!!

So you pay for extra but you don't get back what you don't use.

Sounds like a rip off to me

we covered this extensivly when the soft launch period came to a close in march, they basically said no it doesnt get carried over and then updated thier packages page to mention that, so to be fair you can't really take them up on that and somewhere I did read they mentioned bandwidth purchased or assigned is only good in the calender month it was added to the account. I'm not aware of any service that carries it over, and WBS arent the type to break the mould

Do they plan to re-sign all the contracts with their customers?
What will they do when we cancel because they breached their contract?

What really peeves me off is that a company like this wouldn't last a week in a lot of other countries in the world. Here in SA they're actually still in business and growing from what understand. We really need competition for these idiots. That will soon sort out the state of the industry.

well they know we wont, this happened with the "abuse" thing in april, some cancel.. most dont and wont, just one of those things, also some people have 2 choices, 1mbit sometimes or dial up all the time, and then lets not foget some people are genuinly happy with iburst, although i'm sure not all the time

For those that actually have contracts...
I suppose its common law based on advertised service for the rest
