Jump in South Africa's Covid-19 hospital admissions

The daily number of people admitted to hospital in South Africa with Covid-19 more than doubled on Tuesday from a day earlier.

According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases 383 people have been admitted to hospital with the disease in the last 24 hours compared with 175 in the preceding period

383 admissions. The whole country? That all?

What is the primary covid rate? Are these people being admitted for covid, or like the children, is this just the number of people admitted who happen to have covid on testing for it when entering (75% or something like that)?

Apparently swine flu going around again putting pressure on the hospitals.

But you worry about your Covid. Don't stress about the rest.

“The increase in influenza in the summer, which is not the typical time for the influenza season, is likely the result of relaxation of non-pharmaceutical interventions to control COVID-19, combined with an immunity gap due to influenza not circulating for two years (2020 and 2021) in South Africa (as a result of these interventions),” adds Prof Cheryl Cohen, Head of the CRDM. She stresses that the influenza vaccine remains the primary means for preventing seasonal influenza infection and should ideally be administered before the influenza season from March to April.

Currently, because of recent reductions in transmission, influenza may not circulate in the traditional seasonal period. It is never too late to vaccinate during periods when influenza is circulating, especially for individuals with underlying conditions which put them at increased risk of severe influenza illness or complications.

You should know by now, there is no flu bro, only COVID. They don't count flu they only count COVID, you could die of a stroke 6 months after having COVID and it will be COVID.

Oh no, what ever communist bshters.

Funny how they suddenly ignore the deaths. We are still trending down on 7day death average its soon to breach below 20 deaths per day. If this is the trend it is good news that we have people catching this omicron variant and not dying compared to previous variants.

Question is can you trust the numbers and info they give you in SA? With everything going to S**t and the Airforce now grinding to a halt (Not surprising, was a question of time) are these the true numbers. Vaxed & unvaxed? Age? Just like they 1st discovered the new virus, then it turned out not to be true?

What is the breakdown between vax and anti-vax?
Unbelievably, the DoH has prevented researchers from accessing such data, although it was previously accessible: https://www.groundup.org.za/article...ss-vaccination-data-and-thats-a-huge-problem/

The National Department of Health has blocked access to data from the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) to researchers from the South African Medical Research Council (MRC), the Western Cape health department, and university-affiliated pandemic research groups. This means these researchers can no longer accurately compare the spread and effect of Covid in vaccinated and unvaccinated people in South Africa.

According to a site I found on DuckDuckGo, "Hospital Beds in South Africa decreased to 2.30 per 1000 people in 2010 from 2.39 per 1000 people in 2008."

So 2.3 beds per 60m/1k is 138k beds? So TPTB are worried about 338/138k beds?

As it is not mentioned if the beds were ICU or not?
