Yeah luckily Rain is billed pro rata. You can ask @rain_mobile via pm to downgrade you to the R250 uncapped option. Some people get better speeds that way. Then just switch to and fro from rain and telkom between 6-11pm. Also get a refund for that expressvpn sub and just use Windscribe build a plan per location and with unlimited data for only $2
Rain actually took the full R479 from my card today. I also thought it would be pro-rata, but it wasn't.

And still downloading just wow for rain totaly unstable
Lmao! 11 minutes for a 9mb file.. I feel your pain! I'm in exactly the same boat as you, except I haven't tried downloading yet so I haven't really seen how long it takes to dowload a particular file size. At the moment all Rain is good for is browsing lightweight web pages with images disabled. Original intention was to use it for DStv and Netflix streaming but I haven't been able to do any of those for the last month or so..

I got a 4G unlimited Rain sim just before lockdown so my daughter could work from home. Using a ZTE MF283 and it's been a mixed bag. Sometimes it is slow sometimes fast. Streaming hasn't been an issue and sometimes YouTube buffers a lot. Torrent downloads are mostly slow. Downloading data files is mostly slow unless it's 2 in the morning then they are fast. It's a lot better compared to my old Axxess ADSL.

Horrible, horrible experience with Rain the last two weeks - no help from Support either!

Just logged a ticket for them to cancel it. Had it for 1 day - but can't stand the atrocious speeds, so thanks but NO THANKS.

I will wait a few months before I try this. The 19 hours uncapped package just got too slow for me this year. Wasnt worth it, had to cancel. Hoping that they will expand and upgrade their network.
