My donner. Now they gonna tax us for eating cardboard as well.

What is next? Getting taxed for eating the dirt from our backyards?

This Christmas we are buying Christmas cards for everyone, and afterwords we just add some spice and eat it as the main dinner.

Dankie ANC!

Of course it will have double cheese!

This is the quickest way to unify the country against whoever started this idea.

Sugar industry already damaged and jobs lost due to the sugar tax. Now people will buy less fast food causing those shops to retrench. Do these people instigating these laws have a brain? Anyone with half a brain cell can see this is not about our health, it is a just another way to get tax.

In other words, more stealing.
The gravy boat must be bone dry at Luthuli House then

We will fight before we reduce our KFC consumption.

Exactly, and gym membership is still taxed.

At least it will give me some incentive to stay away from KFC etc etc.

And I have an idea. Why don't we mass-produce a nice card, declaring the bearer to be exempt from fast-food tax, and sell these at R1000 a pop to fatcat oinkers?

  • An increase to the Child Support Grant to at minimum meet the food poverty line (R624) and extend it to pregnant mothers;
  • Extend the Covid-19 support grant;
  • Enact a Basic Income Grant (BIG).
:rolleyes:

The worst of it all - these taxes are not ring-fenced, meaning these just disappear into somebody's nasty pocketses.

har-dee-har-har, a BIG?

They must be dreaming. Or have smoked the good stuff from Piet's (he of the 10 babies) garden...

Tell you what. Push it through.

I will just start to make my own (healthier) substitutes at home then.

Another thing to consider - will it also impact the roadside stalls of Koos van der Merwe (vetkoek, roast potato on a stick, biltong), Sipho and Maria (roast mielies, pap en sous) who've deciced to take the plunge, and produce food for workers at cheaper prices closer to their workplaces?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against such enterpreneurs, and I salute them for trying to make a living and producing a service which benefits hungry people.

Salt tax coming because it increases blood pressure - no more salt sachets given away for free - extra 50c per packet please. Food prices increase across the board because almost everything needs salt. Let me have the power that Stalin had over USSR for a month, I swear I will do good.
