Hi Everyone

I don't post very often on these forums so I hope I got this in the right place forgive me If not. I was hoping I could get some help or feedback on what I think is a problem on my connection.

We took out this contract around March last year. Internet 5 promo 10gb + 10gb for R299.00pm. I haven't had any major problems and the little ones that I did have were swiftly taken care off and too be honest I'm very happy with the product.

Anyways long story short for the past 2 months my Jitter on hasn't been stable when I run pingtests to local or international servers. My ping is usually fine around 230 but the Jitter is 15 - 30ms and from my understanding this makes the line unstable causing the ping to fluctuate by 15 - 30ms if I'm correct? I don't game a lot but when I do I notice that my ping is now very unstable going from 230 - 255 up and down in that area, also on local servers I have this same problem on Dota 2 going from 75ms to 114ms and up and down there again.

So basically my question is, Is this normal? What should the jitter be for 8ta? What jitter do you guys get? I'm 100% positive that it was never ever like this, i remember it always being extremely stable since I got this product. I haven't changed the position of the router, (hauwei b660 router) sits around -71 - 73db. I tested another pre paid 8ta sim and there I get around 3ms jitter so I know the router is fine. Speed tests are fine always over 5mbs download and around 1mb+ on the upload. I'm very happy with the download and upload speeds locally and internationally so no complaints or problems there too.

Enough blabbing now.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you.

The ping times for 3G are dependent on how much load the other users place on your tower. So there are no guarantees and it can deteriorate significantly over a two year contract.

TM has been my primary internet connection for 2.5 year now. Some months the ping times were terrible, but I was always able to use my full 10GB. Things were good for the last year. So I assume TM upgraded their network somewhere along the way.

I have been on TM since April 2012, on the same contract. Used it in Stellenbosch and now Pretoria, never had any issues with regards to connectivity or download speed. Ping did suffer a few times last year, but it's hardly disruptive. I have no issues playing online games like WoT. And had no issues with WoW the last time I played.

Have you tried using your setup (modem + SIM) in another location i.e. at work or at a friends house?
