Can anyone tell me how a proxy works in terms of whether it affects your cap and whether it is legal to have a free proxy?

Anything going thru your port/adsl link affects the cap :( So proxies make no difference.

The only time it will is if you on a IS based account. If so, then once you've reached the cap and have only local access, if you use a local proxy to get international then you can access international etc

Once you've reached your int cap, is your local speed affected? or do you get the same speed as if you still had int cap?

I don't know about ADSL, but only Intl is affected with Iburst. Your local speed stays the same.

Do you know of a place where they offer free proxies?
Not in SA.. cause well someone will have to be paying for in some way or form. Remember the link going out of SA is heavily charged.

Line speed OR Proxy set max/connection speed. I think IS local remains the same speed.

Keep in mind all saix based accounts are hardcapped.[once capped, loose complete access]
