Not one screw lost folks!

Had to upgrade the memory but didn't know about the hidden SODIMM under the keyboard. Took the whole thing apart in search of the extra slot the specifications spoke about...

Did it in under an hour.

Damnit I love it when a plan comes together!

Naturally a service manual helped me a lot when at first I couldn't find it. :D

Next time it will be a whole lot easier...

Good one!
was looking forward to doing that under the keyboard deal myself on my LG a few weeks back.
Ultimate joy when i open the main cover and saw both slots sitting right there so no need.
Xtra 1GB ram + hard drive swap from an 80GB to a 160GB in a laptop i've never been into....too easy

Did you cleaned out the CPU heatsink while you were at it? :)

Good to hear that you didn't damaged anything :D

With me, there is always one screw that doesn't fit where it should fit and one that is lost....

If you don't have at least one screw left you did it wrong.

It is kind of exilirating to fix these things. I have a notebook that came in today that has a busted dvd writer. It is BUSTED!! Finding a solution for that will make the client sooooo happy.

You can buy laptop drives they are mostly all the same just the clip off face plate is different.

Yup. Will tackle that puppy sometime tomorrow. Now however it is me and a movie in bed or something. Too damned tired. Randburg traffic killed me today!

my service manual (nx7010) states that the second ram slot is located underneath the keyboard (under the keyboard section, not the memory section), so I only took the keyboard out when I upgraded.

how long to put it back together?

Fun, eh? I've disassembled an HP nx9010 (putting my hard drive into someone else's while HP took weeks to repair the motherboard).

Disassembling and reassembling a Creative Zen was the most fun though.

Eish, what a mission :) I've stripped a few notebooks before.. and it is NOT fun, so I do not envy you.

When I got my Thinkpad T61, the memory is right under the touchpad, so upgrading it was not hard, just two screwed underneith, some clips and vola.

My laptop's DVD writer's also busted.

Any hints and tips to fix it? ;)
