JUST IN | Grade 6 pupil shot dead at a Katlehong school

The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed that a Grade 6 pupil was killed in a shooting incident at Izibuko Primary School in Katlehong on Thursday morning.

Details are sketchy about what happened.

Gauteng education spokesperson Steve Mabona said that the MEC Panyaza Lesufi was rushing to the scene.

A shooting incident outside a primary school in Katlehong has claimed the life of a Grade 6 pupil, authorities confirmed on Thursday morning.

Spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said a man and his wife had gone to the school to collect their child, who'd just returned from a school trip.

"As they were collecting the child, a group of men in a minibus approached them and fired several shots at the man, who died at the scene.

"A 12-year-old as also shot by a stray bullet and he was rushed to hospital, where he later died."

Taxi industry related perhaps? Poor kid was killed by a stray bullet. RIP. Condolences to families of the deceased.
