Half of the arguments in this thread are pointless.

This new law isn't saying women don't have a right to an abortion. It is banning abortion after 15 weeks pregnancy. I support the right to abortion but surely there has to be a time limit.

There has to be a point where you draw the line between the fetus being a ball of meat with no rights, and being a tiny human being. So, if not 15 weeks then at what point does it become ok to kill a fetus?

Premature babies survive all the time. It seems the only difference between a premature baby and a foetus is society kills one and saves the other.

The SC is broken... It's a tool for Republican minority rule, and that's been the plan for the last 40 years.

Ever since WWII the court was dominated by liberal justices, including some very activist courts like the Warren courts.

Laws should be made by the legislature, and the legislature has been broken ever since the 17th amendment and the dogmatic reverence for the filibuster. Congress can change abortion laws for the entire country, but refuses to do so. It was never and should never have been the remit of SCOTUS.

Constitutional rights aren't made by the judiciary, or you'd be living under an Kritarchy. Constitutional rights are made by amendments to the constitution by the lawfully instituted legislature, with clear rules and absolute majorities. Hence, it at least aspires to be a Republic.

It's not just America either. The UK recently created a Supreme Court out of thin air for some bizarre reason, when the greatest feature of their common law system was that you could have your judicially relevant case heard by the Greatest Peers in the Kingdom, in the form of the House of Lords.
