Okay, so I haven't yet heard from CellC again after Cell_C PMed me. I understand they are busy. Just want to keep you all posted if your're following this saga.

I tried the connection in a different location and it seems to be disconnecting often as well. This new location however does NOT have good coverage of CellC (mostly only EDGE).

I'm wondering if it's something to do with my dongle, but when it works at my home I get good speeds up and down. It's only the disconnections every 15 - 30 min.

I advised my brother to get CellC internet because they have coverage at his home address in Bothasig. For the past two weeks he is constantly having cut-outs and most of the time when he wants to reconnect it wont. He also has problems in getting connected in the first place. He has been to the CellC shop in Canal Walk and they say they can find nothing wrong with his laptop or dongle. He has become so angry as a new internet user that he wont even try to continue to use the internet until he can get an ADSL line.

What is the explanation and what are CellC going to do about the reception in his area (Oldenland Rd Bothasig)?

I have to agree,

I am also experiencing low bandwidth and connectivity issues.
It happens to often these days.

Their network is totally overloaded!

Have had disconnection problems since the start of the year. A CellC technician came to my place to test speeds and whatnot, and he said there's nothing they can do to better my experience.

So, DO NOT BUY CellC Dongle.

I am 400m from on of the towers. My dongle does not switch between towers, thus this is not the problem.

I am basically located in a PRIME SPOT to get THE BEST connection possible.

Have been very happy with CellC since the start of the year, but the disconnections have declined rapidly in the last 2 months. At this stage I'm getting disconnected almost every 15min.

I don't know if any of the other service providers are better, but all I know is that, this is not a good experience.

I am not having a speed problem, just very frequent disconnections (average every 30 mins to 60 mins any time of the day). And I'm not the only one. Cell C does not seem to be taking this issue seriously - I can't even get a reference number out of them when I report the matter.

Aren't what we are seeing here, simply related to the daily migration of users between suburbs and places of work?

I notice general better throughput performance in the suburbs during the day, as opposed to the evenings.

Is this not just a factor of how many users are "loading" a tower at a particular time and how busy the tower backhaul links are?

I'm sure the network management statistics reports would show saturated backhaul links and prompt the mobile network providers to consider increasing capacity where needed?

Budgetary constraints may dictate though! :p

I'm having the same Issue in Cape Town's City Bowl, Gardens.
Could that little antenna for the Dongle help with this issue?

I'm also in the CBD - get disconnected every 30mins to 60mins for several months now.. Went through the whole effort of reporting it, got a few calls, but nothings ever come of it.

Currently just waiting out until July when it expires, then back to sweet stable Vodacom.

Jip, still the same ol' situation over here. Cell_C said they sorted something or the other, but I'm still experiencing constant disconnections.

I'm not dissing/blaming CellC, I'm just telling you how it is.

(I'm situated in Bellville)
