Kalahari coupon abuse may cost you

MyGaming has spoken to one customer who saw their order cancelled as a result of this coupon wrangling. This customer used coupon codes to get a R200 discount on a R350 gift voucher, which was then used to pre-order Watch Dogs.

That's why you have to use it on items delivered the next day. Of course they would cancel his order since the game is 4 months away. :D

I've heard of people who's normal orders were cancelled as well. Seems like they panicking and cancelling everything and then investigating things after the fact.

I wonder what will hurt them more, losing money because of a system flaw or losing customers who are angry over cancelled orders?

Loopholes will be continuously abused :p. They should enforce a 1 coupon per sale policy.

I've received an email that my order is delayed, but not cancelled yet. Hopeing I do get it. Did not buy vouchers, so would guess all is in order.

I'm glad to say I just placed an order on Loot.co.za this morning for items I couldn't find on Kalahari, Takealot or even Ebay at the price I got it from Loot. Here's to hoping the order goes through smoothly and I'm smiling after the purchase :) Yes, I am speaking more and more of Loot these days on mybb, because IMHO they are kicking some ass online.

Seems like Kalahari ineptitude to me.

Our terms and conditions make it pretty clear that these coupon codes can only be used one at a time, and are only meant for the people to whom they are issued.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but surely the system they have in place should check whether one coupon is used or not, and not allow a second one to be used. Also, in this day and age with instant communication, if you give a group of people the same coupon code, you don't think they're going to tell their friends and family? Might make things more complicated, but issue unique coupon codes.

As was said, loopholes will be abused.

I used one coupon and so far nothing has been cancelled, I guess it's mostly the guys that stacked coupons.

Exactly, reminds me of the EA coupon exploit where people got tonnes of games for free racking up hundreds of $$'s. They realised they were dumb, fixed the exploit and let everyone keep their stuff.

If i recall, TakeAlot had a similar issue last year where you could stack coupons, just not actually buy vouchers with them but people got away with it all.

Another thing I've seen is people who used the same voucher code 5 times, certainly their system should at least not let you use the same code 5x in a single order? That seems flawed to me!

I also received a coupon in my email on my account which was exactly the same as a "leaked" coupon. Will this coupon code also be penalised?

Furthermore, I have quite some legitimate coupons entailing 5room and Style36, then the shops closed… worthless coupons, making you buy more to receive loyalty in return… not so loyal to the customer then…

People have been doing this in the US for ages... you find a coupon, you post it online, a bunch of other people use it. Seems companies in the US don't mind as much. Extreme couponing SA edition... ain't going to happen lol.

Seems like they only really had a problem when people stacked vouchers and when people used vouchers to buy gift cards.

So you should be fine.

Both of these should be able to be fixed on Kalahari's side. But anyway.

Here's how I see it. Perhaps it was against their fineprint terms of service. But they're not even so much as apologizing or admitting any fault. If their system wasn't broken this would never have happened. They can't hold the "abuser's" entirely liable for a mistake that was mostly theirs. Instead of going around and cancelling orders, they should make proper contact with the customers first.

All they're doing is sending a generic cancellation notice, and their customer support don't even know why.

Like I said before the flaw was their fault not ours, yet they're not even so much as apologizing just calling "ABUSE". I got an order cancelled today and they even made my non-promotional expire yesterday. It was only expiring in 2017!
