Kalahari coupon abuse may cost you

Typical New south Africa behavior, blame your customers for your f*up. Just look at SANRAL, ANC, Kalahari.com, ISP's, Vodacom..........

You guys pushed the system as far as you could and got caught doing it.

Fair enough, but a valid non-promotional voucher expiring 2017 was involved in my transaction and they've cancelled that as well, so that could constitute theft. Also, when I placed the order on 17 February, I had no idea what I was doing was against the rules, I just thought I was being clever.

I have requested that they at least reinstate that voucher otherwise it's a case of outright theft.

I agree and I heard kalahari are getting the couriers to pick up orders they that have been sent out. Lol I'm expecting a huge demo sale from them.

Sounds like Kalahari just need to rethink their coupon system. Can't blame customers for this sort of thing - people will always exploit these types of systems if they're not setup carefully.

I find that difficult to believe, except for extreme cases. The transaction has surely been completed once the recipient has received the goods, so I can't imagine that it's fine for them to take the goods back unless the client agrees to it.

Okay, but using the same voucher more than once on a single item and getting it for free as a result, does indicate questionable intent. I ordered an CD and printed voucher to the value of R375. I then applied a R75 promotional voucher and a R50 promotional voucher. I also had a R120 standard voucher and I paid the rest by EFT. Like I said, I thought I was being clever, but I'm not a criminal.

Kalahari is using a policy of guilty until proven innocent. It's actually insulting.

Lets be honest here Kalaharis service is fairly crap a lot of the time. My orders from them are very often late and last year I had to wait two months for them to refund me for a broken item they delivered. This is doing them no favours either.

Customers that abused Kalahari coupon codes not intended for mass use may see their orders cancelled

But it was not coupons... Apparently it was vouchers... God forbid...

I have to ask would the following have caused any issues:

Instead of changing the original article, leave it as it as with the code and then add a simple notice to why it is fscked?

The originals:

I'm glad to say I just placed an order on Loot.co.za this morning for items I couldn't find on Kalahari, Takealot or even Ebay at the price I got it from Loot. Here's to hoping the order goes through smoothly and I'm smiling after the purchase :) Yes, I am speaking more and more of Loot these days on mybb, because IMHO they are kicking some ass online.
If things ever don't go smoothly with a Loot order for any reason then please drop me a PM and I will try and sort it out for you ASAP
PS That's an open invite to all MYBB members wrt any issues / questions / requests regarding Loot

How about a greater selection of dslr camera lenses since kalahari doesn't seem to have stock and SACamera was closed down.

Dont ever agree to this, its your items, you have a receipt. If they try to take it back its theft and/or robbery.

Have put it on my hitlist -- if there is something particular you are looking for at the moment let me know and I can always try source it for you.

I seriously never thought Kalahari of all online retailers would ever pull something like this. Clearly they didn't consult with their legal team before going nuclear on people's orders and referring to them as blatant abusers. I think they panicked and handled the situation very wrong.

The fact of the matter is, I did nothing wrong (except fail to read their T's & C's), I have nothing to hide and I'm not letting this go. I'm sure there are a lot of people in the same boat as me. Not all of us are "customers who blatantly abused the coupon codes" yet by cancelling our orders they are implying it, and that's defamatory.

I called Kalahari again today and got my case escalated. Also gave them a piece of my mind and told them they should choose their words more carefully.

My new shopping hierarchy.

1. Takealot
2. Loot
3. Any other online store who might stock the item(s) at a reasonable price.
4. Any brick and mortar store who might stock the item(s) at a reasonable price.
5. Kalahari

I can't say I won't buy from them again, but I will try every other possible avenue first.

They're on the bottom of my list as well.
