There is a very real possibility of this - the silent majority is talked about often.
The silent majority is a myth that comes from Richard Nixon, of all people. There is no silent majority, polling is largely accurate.
What there are however, are voters and non-voters. Not everyone who gets picked up by a poll is actually going to vote. Trump won because among other things he appealed to certain very strong voting demographics - such as older white people. Young people show up for Sanders rallies but they don't vote in large numbers, hence Sanders getting crushed by Biden in the end.
The question going into 2020 is whether Trump can corral the same voter support as he did in 2016. Signs so far are not auspicious for him, but we will have to see.
