Kaspersky becomes first Russian company on US security risk list

The U.S. placed internet-security provider AO Kaspersky Lab on a list of companies deemed a threat to national security, for the first time adding a Russian entity to a list dominated by Chinese telecommunications firms.

The Federal Communications Commission on Friday also added China Telecom (Americas) Corp, and China Mobile International USA Inc. to the list.

Once a company is on the list, federal subsidies can’t be used to purchase its equipment or services.

If Kaspersky is still headquartered in Moscow, but general operations happens not on Russian shores, how about they close up shop and open in the UK or some other country, that does not have this sensless sanctions on them? And just now because Kaspersky is based in Russia, it does not mean that they are the enemy to the US, because of alleged links to the FSB.
Kaspersky is really good with its detection and prevention of malware, etc.

I wonder if there will ever be a "vaccine mandate" for personal computers?

Myfok! We would prevent loadshedding if we had everyone uninstalled their cr@ppy AV packages and dogsh1t3 miners.

Edit: The best security software for Windows is to place a Debian Bullseye in front of it.

Pick n Pay should sell Kaspersky in the sausage section. It is only useful in a kota takeaway and should come with a free bogroll.

With the good job Microsoft is doing these days, 3rd party anti-virus for windows is about as necessary as 3rd party anti-virus for mac.
On second thought, now that most people use cloud-based services and have terrible security habits, it may be because they have moved to softer targets.
