So I'm going to a different ISP next month and I was wondering on whether you can keep your old email address or not.

I'm with MWEB btw and have emailed them but got no response after 2 days.

is it @mweb.co.za? If so, no luck. Get a domain of your own rather - some of the friendly ISP guys here can most likely set you up lickity-split.

If you'd like a gmail invite just let me know via PM.

It's @worldonline.co.za although MWEB own them now.

@Bwana: Thanks for the offer but have had a gmail address for well over a year now ;)

Let that be a lesson for everyone who becomes dependant on something like an mweb ISP free email.

In the long run, there's nothing you can do to keep that email if you switch providers - you can "shore it up" for a while to give yourself time to move, but inevitably, if you no longer want to do business with rip-off artists like Mrob, you will lose your email addy.

Do yourself a favour, register your own domain name, doesn't matter what it is, just do it. Do NOT go with an ISP allocated email address, EVER.

These days, you can have your own email, domain, etc. for as little as R10 a month, so there's no reason at all to use an ISP allocated email addy.

People need to start registering their own domain names eg

smith.com or smith.net.za and then get names @ the address. We have moved over to this and are working to give this out with all adsl account setup.
