Keeping vehicle registered in another province

I recently moved to the Western Cape and I still have a vehicle in Gauteng, currently being used by a family member.

This vehicle's license disc is up for renewal, so my question is, is it possible to keep this vehicle licensed in Gauteng (with GP plates) when I've relocated to the Western Cape, and have my own vehicle with me, which is also up for renewal now and which I'll re-register in the Western Cape?

No. An individual can only register in one province, so when you change your address, they’ll move all your cars across. Only way to do it would be to register it in someone else’s name.

Unless, you also have a property in Gauteng. All my cars still have CA plates while I am in Joburg.

Can you have 2 addresses registered on the enatis system?

Can you choose to have two cars registered under the same name in different provinces i.e. One with a CA numberplate and the other GP.

Well, you just have to provide the proof of residency. I am sure you can have the same name in GP and the same name in WP.

Yeah - it's a never ending hassle doing this. If you live in both cities, with a car in each and want local plates for each, eNatis just can't handle this, at least not for an individual the last few times I tried. You have to keep changing your address back and forth with FICA and all that jazz. If you can put the car into a company/cc and nominate a local proxy this solves the problem more permanently.

I moved to a different municipal region and my vehicle licence is up for renewal.
What do I need or need to do to re register the car?

Just a change of address and everything remains the same, unless your mucipality is in another province?

Just provide the old Gauteng address when you renew.
I have one car registered in Stellenbosch (full of **** last few years because of student car registrations) and one in Paarl.

Yes, all that. Was just not sure if it was the same form and if more information was needed
There could be a change of address form you would have to fill, but it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Patience, proof of address, more patience and the yellow form.

Cost depends on province. You'll also get penalties for being late... which sucks.
Mine recently cost +/-R1000; the licence expired in March, renewed in Dec, in Cape Town

What a mission, the ALV form was the wrong form. Had to use the RLV for and re-register the car in the new district. For some reason they do not accept a SARS registered for proof of address

I am in CPT and my number plates are Durban. Never had an issue, I use FNB to renew the licence disks.

Do you have property in Durban?

My license was outstanding from 2019, so I just re-registered and got it over with

I am registered with my mother's address but I used my CPT address when I renewed via FNB. Nothing was said about the different addresses.

If it makes any difference I am renting in CPT.
