Kenneth Makate scores massive victory against Vodacom at Supreme Court

You're a brave man, I saw you posted something over the weekend on the town fb group (about Vodacon), these poeple are going to lynch you at some stage.
Such is the way of the land.

They vote for yellow party, they use yellow network.....

We must do the right thing and make him President, he will fix the country.
He has taken 20 plus years in this one issue. We want the born frees to see what a country should look like still within their lifetimes...

You won't get it.

It's not sour grapes at him getting money. It's seeing the destruction of value on a massive scale.

You draw a salary, you don't make the money and then pay people salaries.
What destruction? You're arguing for the same.

What is funny that people think "vodacom" will lose. The people that will lose is Vodacom's shareholders. Which in many cases are pension funds and the like.

As much as people like to think of this as "little guy" vs. "fat cats" I am pretty sure the fat cats won't feel much and the 99.9% other little guys will pay for it.

So before you root just based on who the little guy is... you are paying for this with your retirement money

EDIT: It is mostly PIC and that is state employees so no biggie. Government has defined benefit pensions so they are on the hook meaning that tax payers will cover the Please Call Me payout. We can increase the social grant from R350 to R550 a month or we can pay one guy an insane amount. Or we can give the money to Russia for "nuclear base load power". Either way. No problem.
It's more complex. Vodacom has a few big shareholders that will lose. A lot of their revenue can or should be reinvested into the company. Only a portion of profit is allocated to dividends and share prices reflect this so it's never like you get a massive 50% payout. The share price will take a knock if they suddenly had to pay out R1bn and it's more than likely they already put away some of it or some assets to cover it. It will recover again so just don't sell and everything will be fine.

Look I would actually buy that Vodacom has to pay massive amounts in punitive damages. Just as long as nobody dictates that throwing an idea out in the world is worth R20 billlion.

I mean if it is am going to get an ChatGPT bot create description of services from random keywords and mail them to everybody in the industry and when somebody halfway overlaps I am going to jump from behind a bush and say AHA!

They could have paid him a few millions long ago before he even involved greedy lawyers who have coached him to demand billions. Vodacom shot themselves in the foot with this one.

Where was the concern when MTN was slapped with a $5.2bn fine in Nigeria? Where was the destruction then. R98bn
They should've just waited to the Naira dropped.
