Hi, didn't know if I should have maybe posted this in the PC Hardware & Gadgets forum. I'll ask there if no one can help me here.

I recently bought a Kenwood radio for my Figo (KDC-3357URM) and I'm having a bit of a problem. I installed the unit perfectly and plays great. The only problem is the demo mode. Every time I turn off the car for a while and turn it back on it asks me if i want to cancel demo mode. I switched off demo mode in the setting but it keeps asking me every time I switch on the radio. How can I get this away??

Thanks.

It sounds like every time you switch your car off the radio is completely losing power and thus resetting itself to demo mode every time you turn it on.

I also have a Figo and remember when I installed an aftermarket radio the installer said something about the wiring being like that, but I can't really remember.

I would suggest asking on the speedandsound forums if no one can help you here.

Does it loose the radio stations settings ? If yes then you need to wire the memory (think its called that and it used to be pink) to a powersource.

Yes it loses all the settings. But I managed to get it fixed. Apparently the ignition and battery wires on the Ford Figo is switched. :/
Will see tomorrow when I drive again. Next step would be to make it able to use the radio without ignition, but I'm a bit worried about my battery dying. The radio has a auto off function but I read that if there is an amp installed with the radio that it would drain the battery.

If you connected the remote wire to the amp it will switch-off the amp if the radio switches off. To bypass the ignition simply connect your radio's power to the cars positive terminal on the battery. (please add fuse)

Been there, done that :
...reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_10487 I now know why the radio resets everything I switch off the car.
*Note, on modern Volkswagen Group cars and some older vehicles (such as the Peugeot 106 or Vauxhall Astra) the +12V Ignition and Battery positions are reversed.

I had the same issues with my KDC-BT35U: asking for the language and the demo mode, the clock being reset everytime, things like that.

Turns out, when having a look a the wires, you'll see a yellow cable connected with a plug to another yellow cable, and a red cable connected to another red cable. Switching those solves the problem, at least for my Citroën C3. It's for that purpose these plugs are integrated I guess.

So connect the yellow cable to the red one (using that plug), and the red one to the yellow cable - and you should be fine.
