I don't think Mbeki feels that he's been successful yet, he wants to be President ( or something like that ) of the United States of Africa ( or something like that ) that's why I think he doesn't really want to step down from politics yet, his vision of a united Africa has not yet been realised - IMHO - I'm not sure if it ever will be - but he believes it, he really, really does

If he believes in a United Africa then he is as delusional as the people in Orania.

This continent is to tribal for that to happen. In the old days countries went to war, now 2 tribes are going to war.

(Wait that is a FGTH song) LOL

My boss probably earns 3x Thabo Mbeki's salary, and he only runs a team of 4people. Trevor Manuel earns peanuts compared to some CEO's in the retail chain stores even thouhg he has to handle quite a substantial budget.

Money is not an issue for a president whilst he is in office, everything is funded by the state anyway. He can turn down an increase and that is no reflection of how much of a good leader he is, it's just some clever PR.

Each country first needs to get it's act together. No point in having a unity of corruption. Mwai Kibaki is leading the way at the moment IMO - if he had our infrastructure and natural resources at his disposal, there's no doubt in my mind that Kenya would be the most advanced country on the continent and well on it's way to becoming a true first world country.

Mbeki, while he may have good intentions at heart, lacks the urgency to get things done quickly. There are quite a few ministers who are obviously undeserving of their jobs. They forget that their job is to work for the citizens, not the other way around. If Mbeki truly and honestly had urgency to consider the best interests of the people, he would take immediate action against these ministers.

Well said!!
