Kia Sonet - ludicrous pricing, what a rip off (IMHO)

There are a range of new similar priced cross-over vehicles, such as Nisan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Suzuki Brezza and Toyota Urban cruiser.
Looking at the top in the range Automatic and went to test drive the Nissan and KIA - luckily, neither of these had all the features I want for a lazy car owner such as keyless (essential), auto lights and automatic rain sensors.

Long story short, the KIA Sonet is advertised as R305,999.00 except guess what - if you want paint, yes standard paint on your car, that is extra, WTF, hell no. Even if that was the car of my dreams just no. What next KIA - if you want tyres on your car that's an extra R10,000 or it only comes with a driver's seat, you want passenger setas, cough up?

I was ok, if I don't want paint then what, and the salesperson was I dunno, they sent it in metal form -hahaha, not even primed I asked, but they had already lost me by then, so had stopped listening.

Bottom line, after all the BS of paint and admin and this "on the road" fees, the car is R319,000 - why don't they just advertise and sell it at the end price - you can't walk in and give them R305,999 and take the car so why do they even pretend?

That's why you need to stray from the beaten path of mainstream manufacturers if it's value for money you are looking for. Kia and Hyundai are well know con artists, you should have known something odd awaits you.

The Haval H2 Luxury at R319k has all of way you want and more, the Auto is slightly more expensive though but the price is totally justified for what you get. Pay particular attention to the safety spec of all te cars you are considering, many people tend to overlook tat after they have seen te keyless entries and rain sensing wipers.

No at Haval - will go look at the Toyota some time, it appears to have all the features I am looking for, and, unlike KIA, I'm sure it comes painted.:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Just like how you cannot buy the base model Polo in SA. It technically doesn't exist, besides being on the pricelist. Always have to include extra's to get an actual 'car'.

Hate to break it to you but you are going to find on the road fee surprises in some shape or form from every single dealership.
I have never paid them, nor the full asking price.
You need though to find a proper salesperson, the slicker the better, and not these bored people at car dealerships that don't know what they doing or care. A genuine salesperson that makes an effort to meet and beat quotas - especially towards the end of the month (especially a shitty month), normally makes a plan. Also depends on who owns the dealership.
Never been told paint is excluded, that one from KIA, was an unexpected curveball.:eek:

Oh I’ve certainly gotten them discounted or other value adds thrown into the deal like you say in December at month end especially.

But they all try to do it and somewhere a compromise is made.

It is poor not to have a base paint included though.

Odd, can't say I have heard of the paint thing from any dealership. The fancy metallic paints, yes, white or whatever are included always.

I've bought two Kia's and they both included paint and everything else. Unlike VW who wanted to charge me for floor mats, an armrest and then still load up the quote with everything else that was included with the Kia's like a service plan.

I did have a bad experience with one Kia salesman who offered me a kak deal. Went down the road to the next dealership and he gave me a way better deal plus threw in a tow bar. Was awkward when I went to pick up the car, for some reason the kak salesman was at the other dealership to fetch something lol.

I probably won't buy another Kia. They are decent cars that are extremely reliable but their prices have gone a bit wack.

I am not sure if this just on the Sonet - in a lame attempt to try and keep the so-called but not real price lower - but no, there is no base paint included. To walk out with the car, if you willing to pay full price, is not the advertised R305,999 but R319,999.00.

Can't see why they just don't advertise the real walk-out of the showroom price for the car as it with paint and no other extras.
