Kids: how many were you and how many have you now?

We are three kids from my parents, wife was adopted so don't know how many siblings she had/has, but from adoptive family she's the youngest of four.

We have two daughters and its likely to remain that way. So another 3:1 female to male household.

I am interested in your reasons for only having one - is it financial, difficulty falling pregnant (wife) or are you just happy with 1?

Like I said, I am happy with 1 but my wife wants another. Problem is that my wife can't even handle my daughter sometimes. My daughter is not naughty - just a normal 3 year old but my wife is impossible and expects life to be plain sailing and kids easy 24/7 which it is not!

I am one of 7. Wife is 1 of 3. We have 1 son and he is enough. We thought about having another but we feel perfectly happy with our little family so we will just stay with 1 child. I hope our son doesn't regret not having a sibling.

Dad comes from a family of 7 kids, he is the oldest. 1 half-brother, 1 step brother, 2 sisters and 2 half-sisters. Mom comes from a family of 4 kids, all girls. I am an only child, and have no kids at the moment. Unsure whether I want kids or not.

If there is one thing I wish I had more than anything else, was a brother or sister that I could tease, play games with, someone to keep me company when I was alone, etc. Growing up as an only child was a lonely experience.

i have 3 brothers, my husband has 1 brother and 3 sisters. i had 4 children. i would have liked to have had more but i not one of my pregnancies were full term. my last child was born 2 months premature and the risk of having more was too much for me so decided to stop. the gynaecologist said i would never carry anther child to 7 months. so that was that.

We tried for a couple of years after my son was born to have another child but it never happened. Things happened where my son got older (he is 18 this year) and my wife and I got to the point where raising another child was going to be a bit of a mission (we both travel quite a bit for work) and so I had a vasectomy.

My dad had 6 siblings, my mother 2.
My grandmothers each had 4 siblings

I our case it is money and also I am afraid the second one will not be as easy as our first. My wife is of opinion that if our daughter is about 5 and old enough to help her raise another child she might consider it. I always wanted to be the only child so I decided that is a privilege I will give to my daughter.

We were 5 children and my wifey were 2. Currenlty have a daughter, not planning another 1 unless it is a glipsie.

As per OP, I am one of 3. My brother and sister are tight but I was always on the outside and tended to migrate towards hanging out with adults, even at a young age.

I love my siblings, but would've been happy being an only child!

Second is very easy and third is on autopilot


Its easier when the age gap is small.

I'm glad my wife and I went for number 2. My eldest is from my first marriage and lives with her mom so it was nr 3 for me.

Anyway don't dismiss a second one.
