Kodi/Covenant/MaverickTV/Poseidon buffering issue

Hi all

My set-up is as follows.. Asus N14 U modem, Telkom 8meg line with Vox as my ISP, and a Mygica 495X TV box running wirelessly from the modem. This set-up has been running absolutely fine for the last few months since I got the Mygica. I am using the pre-installed version of Netflix and Kodi and the Playstore version of Showmax. I use any of the above Kodi add-ons for movies etc

I am now experiencing a (to me) strange issue. It all started last weekend when my 8meg ADSL line went legs up and decided to run a t 0.03megs.

A very helpful Telkom techie arrived and tested and fiddled using his and my modem and eventually re-created and re-set everything back to 8megs. It all looked hunky dory and Netflix, Showmax worked flawlessly and using my PC for downloads and Youtube etc was perfect.
The issue arose when trying to use Kodi to stream a movie or series...everything seemed to lag, and there is a large amount of buffering and freezing.

I thought that it might be a wireless issue and move the TV box and modem around to no avail. I then hard wired the modem to the TV box which gave me a perhaps 1% increase in performance. I have uninstalled everything (add-ons) and even gone as far as doing a factory re-set on the Mygica and reinstalling the latest and shiniest versions of the apps, but it’s still the same!

I seem to remember that my ADSL line, before the crash, was syncing at slightly lower than 8megs, around 7.1 megs (on the router) ....Could this be the issue? Could the 8meg profile be unstable?

I’m fairly new to all this, so any constructive comments or wise words will be appreciated!

Will give Terrarium TV a try tonight, but I am experiencing the same issues.

Covenant, Bob, 1080 Movies, Openload etc all buffering like a mofo. So much so that I gave up watching TV last night. Trying different providers and streams did not help at all. Speedtest shows all good, but I can not watch anything on Kodi. Thought it might be ISP related?

Anyone else experiencing Kodi issues?

Are any of you using Real-Debrid? If so, then that is probably the cause of the buffering. Real-Debrid has become useless as of late. Their servers are overloaded and I can’t even stream on a 200mb line. I’v moved to Premiumize and it works much better.

I have had issues with covenant for a couple of weeks now. No good quality streams, wrong episodes showing up, buffering or links not working when clicking them.

I also resorted to downloads this weekend too.

Install terrarium app on your Android box. Works very well.

Just as a matter of interest, which version of kodi are you running. I had no buffering issues over the weekend with v1.7.4 (telkom lte). The biggest problem that I had was trying to find high res streams.

The kodi devs are going out of their way to stop the "free" streams, so was wondering if it was the update that caused the problem.
Nah they give a rats ass. It's backend source changes that break streams leaving you to wait for an update or use a different addon.

Kodi getting a lot of flak in eu and us from the okes with the money, so they are pretending to block the free streams.

Thanks for the duckpool ref. Will look at it.

Thanks bud! It works 100% ! Very chuffed.

Dammit!! Looks like I spoke too soon! Now Terrarium is buffering and generally fooking around! Kodi (Now version 17.6 I think)is barely useable! But, Showmax and Netflix still working 100%. Very sucky!

Lol good luck MPAA.

Not about luck, this means that all these addons are now useless as the devs have stopped updating and are now in hiding. Finding streams will be a lot more difficult until another dev releases a new addon.

I wonder if this also affects Terrarium and Showbox? I am keen to try them but the lack of Premiumize support is a big deal. I don’t use Real Debrid any longer as RD is rubbish as of late, too many users, too few servers. Oversubscribed and just slow.

So what other options do we have for streaming.
