Koeberg Unit 2 back online after second outage in days

Eskom has announced that it successfully returned Unit 2 at Koeberg nuclear power station to service on Sunday, 9 March 2025.

Following its startup from 18:17 on Sunday, the unit has been incrementally ramped up to 646MW and will continue to increase its output until it reaches its full capacity of 930MW.

Who is feeling safe living near that plant? I am sure a few folks would say they do.... but are they really safe?

If they can read and understand that despite all of their problems there has never been a safety incident affecting the nuclear reactor (and associated safety equipment) then they'd be happy to live in the plant's shadow. Only bang broeks who react to headlines bearing the name Koeberg would claim otherwise.

You mean the organisation that's been trying to close it down for 42 years? Who constantly point out all the issues with Koeberg and none of them have even remotely given any real issues?

I live pretty close to it. Never worried about it. Not sure why anyone would feel unsafe around it. It's got a very good safety record.
