The lull in load shedding was never going to last long. They don't call it suspended without reason :D
True. I think they "predicted" 10 winter weeks of it, so how many are left?

Twas a rather cooler start to our day here in Gauteng. I suppose there are still a few weeks left for decent cold to continue.

They said;

But that's transmission lines, not generators.
And as for the timing..
The HV yard at a power station like Kriel is just a collection of very close transmission lines and switch gear. What happens on transmission lines can also happen there and with greater impact because of the dual bus bar linkages. A single transmission line will likely only take itself out, while a bus bar tripping out will impact several lines and the generators currently tied to that bus bar.

The generators didn't trip because of the mist, something in the HV yard tripped or blew and the generators had to be tripped to save them from damaging themselves without a load.

Odd...that area has ALWAYS had mist....
:laugh:
Probably kept the isolators and switch-gear clean.

We never had issues when I lived that way in the late 90's...
Of course things still worked a bit back then...

Our power was off from 12 last night until about 1pm today. I don't have the energy for another set of load shedding.
