Kudos to Sigma and Tudortech

About a month ago I purchased a Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 at a pretty decent price off of ODP only to find that when I received it the inside was quite dusty. I attribute this to the courier and the knocking about it probably received.

On Friday last week I called Tudor to find out what a service and general checkup would cost and they informed me that if I have the receipt and it falls into the warranty period they would do all that for free. If not it would cost around R1000. Fortunately the nice gentleman I purchased it from scanned the receipt and emailed it to me and the original is on it's way in the post.

I dropped the lens off this morning and it will be cleaned/calibrated/tested and ready for use in 7 working days.

In the day and age where service levels seem to have fallen dramatically it is very refreshing to know that there are still some companies that honour and follow through with what they say they will do and in this case I fell they're going the extra mile.

Thank you for great after sales service even though I didn't originally purchase the lens myself.

Further to this the lens came back from service still dusty inside and the HSM was terribly slow. The lens also appeared quite soft to I called them up and they offered to replace the lens with a brand new version II. All in all a very good experience and will probably sway me to their products even more in the future. On top of it I now have a brand new 3 year warranty as well.

If only they had a decently priced 50mm f/1.4 I would buy it.

I spoke to them about the 17 - 50 F2.8 HSM lens. I am looking for one for Sony mount, I was impressed with the help I got and the support they promised on their product. If companies back their products like you experienced it makes one alot more comfortable buying them. Well done to Tudortec and Sigma.
