because it isn't about him, it is about us, as a society and as individuals and how we choose to behave. It is about innocent people who have been put to death and subsequently evidence has been found which exonerated them. It is about the fact that we are supposedly civilized and not going out and doing the whole eye-for-an-eye revenge thing. It is about all the evidence that shows that the death penalty not only does not deter crime, but begets more violence. It is about the poor men and women who will be called on to kill in the name of the state and the psychological trauma they and their families will suffer as a result. It is about the fact that we have a better moral code than criminals and instead of being hypocrites and killing someone, we restrain those inclinations towards violence and incarcerate instead. It is about doing what is morally and ethically right instead of giving in to our basest instincts and lashing out vengefully to wreak retribution.
