The rebuilding of infrastructure will most likely end up like Kusile and Medupi.

Too expensive, went far over deadline, full of errors and constant maintenance/repairs or it won't be ****ing built in the first place...
Anecdotal but it seems that many people in the councils affected by the floods are becoming nervous about "corruption" so they rather do nothing or go exactly by the book instead of getting stuff done. Previously damage to say, a water purification plant or sewage works would be done by a contractor on the emergency services roster on a cost plus basis, starting within days. This is relevant as it is very difficult to assess and quantify the extent of the damage. For these floods I hear some repair work is being done in a conventional way; tender for a "consultant", they assess, quantify and specify the damage repairs in a tender document which goes out to contractors who bid. Typically this process in eThekwini takes about a year! Good luck Debbin.

Seems sus...

"The EFF leader said the money donated by the EFF will go to the church"

Maybe check who owns/runs the church, just a thought.

"He called for the government to resettle people from the informal settlement urgently — adding that the government should expropriate land if need be."

The real reason he's there, lol.

What I wonder is would it also count as politicking like was said when Steenhuisen was also in KZN handing out stuff?

It is politicking. It is what all the political parties are doing. The ANC have sent a bunch of ministers and deputies there as well. It's all political (and my music is literal).

I wonder if he would go ask the "King" for some of his land
Well if you take what the late Zulu King stated when ownership of land was discussed he claimed all the land in KZN, parts of Free Sate and Gauteng belonged to him as King of the Zulu's. While he did not expect the land to be returned, he did want compensation for it.

A Lol must be added when a community in KZN were awarded land ownership in KZN. The King wanted to claim it from them as they were "Zulu subjects" . They told him to F*** off.

I can believe that based on just what is in the press. Snag is that either way; corruption or too many rules; delivery costs more and takes longer; if ever.

He had warped sense of what land they conquered.
